the bento packing, lunch cooking, photo taking, dog loving blog

Not Exactly Goodbye

It’s time to say, “Goodbye,” and not just because I haven’t posted for the last few months.  It’s a thought that has been on my mind for the last year.  I started Not Exactly Bento on a suggestion from a friend and as a way to teach myself to cook and to stop eating out so much.

The blog has brought many great things: a passion for photography, new friends, and support from an online bento community that has been wonderful.  Readers come and go, leaving comments that make me think and continue on the path of adventure and discovery that this blog started.  Fans stay and have supported this blog in so many ways. <3

What’s gone though is the passion to take pictures and post it all online.  My focus has shifted.  I still pack lunch.  I still cook for myself.  But the hours I once spent in front of my computer processing food photos and writing my thoughts about my cooking journey are now spent on a variety of other tasks.  I’ve learned what I wanted from Not Exactly Bento, and I hope in some small way through that journey, my readers learned something too.

I have thoughts for a new blog, one that focuses more on what catches my attention at this time: knitting, reading, photography, and the occasional food photo.  I just haven’t decided where to continue my chattiness.

At the end of May 2013, Not Exactly Bento will close its virtual doors.

Thank you for your readership and support over the last 5+ years.  It has been, and continues to be, a wonderful adventure.

And never forget to BE THE BENTO!

~Jenn

Jenn – I am so sorry to see you go! But I am so happy that THIS blog brought me a new friend and YOUR work and inspiration helped me to find bento and now it is a daily part of my life. I have YOU to thank for this. I hope you keep the site up so that I can continue sending curious friends and acquaintances this way. I have always referred people to this site because it was so well done. Thank you friend.

So sad to see you go. Will your blog still be view-able for inspiration, or are you closing down the site, too? Good luck with your other adventures.

It has been a LONG time since I started reading NEB and a rather long time since I posted on here, but I have loved your blog. You’ve inspired me to cook new things, to try new foods, and to just be happier in my life and make the choices to do better by myself. You’ve inspired me for years and it’s been a real pleasure! I’ll look forward to finding your new blog once you’ve decided and gotten there ^_^
