Turkey meatballs. I was wary of my want to make these. As I was flipping through my small collection of Everyday Food back issues a few days ago, I came across the recipe for these along with suggestions on using them in 3 different dishes. I don’t usually use turkey in my bentos, nor do I cook with it often. But for some reason, these really caught my eye.
And I’m glad they did, because they ended up being amazingly better than I thought they would be. I paired them up with the remainder of the orzo pilaf from Tuesday, a couple of deviled eggs, and a honey tangerine. I’m going to be so sad when those honey tangerines are no longer available at the fruit stand. They are amazingly delicious.
Since I knew I was going to change up this recipe slightly (and this time it worked out. YAY ME!), I took pictures while cooking. This recipe will appear this coming Friday on Not Exactly Bento.

Oh yay! I love when you give the recipes too. They do look good. I use turkey or pork in my meatballs. I made little pork patties Monday and used them in a lunch, I have to bake patties because my meatballs always turn out flat
I should call them sliders w/o buns. Anyway…nice lunch!
Thanks Lyndsey. It’s always nice to hear that people enjoy the recipe posts. Sometimes I worry since I know I’m still a learning cook. LOL!
Calling your patties sliders sounds like a great idea!
i should switch over to turkey, i made swedish meatballs with beef and sooooo much fat came out when they were cooking. ew. your lunch looks delish.
Oh, I know Eula. I decided I might try to use ground turkey more after making these. Apparently, seasoning them well is what makes a big difference.
Score!
