I want to know how those of you who pack a pretty, aesthetically pleasing, nicely organized bento lunch do it! I can take a great picture (or so I think), but packing my lunch to look “WOW!” just escapes me. Every once in awhile, I luck up and my bento looks as appealing as it tastes. Sometimes, it comes out looking a bit mish mashed, as today. But that’s okay. Because I know I have wonderfulness waiting for me for lunch.
Today’s lunch includes the rest of the pasta and tomato sauce leftover from a two days ago, steamed peas, hard boiled eggs, and 4 vegetarian dumplings. YUM!
I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am that I’ve brought a bento to work everyday this week. A bento that didn’t necessarily take alot of cooking each night to prepare. I wonder if I can accomplish this again next week. That’s the goal. Though Wednesday, I will have to eat it. Monthly meeting day.
And if anyone is wondering how the crepe turned out yesterday for lunch, the answer is, “So ~ so.” The filling was better than the crepe in the end. However, that’s not really a complaint. Since I just made my first crepes this week, I still consider it an adventure well taken.
To keep myself prepared for next week, I’m thinking about what I can do this weekend to keep things on such a nice steady pace. The question all boils down to what to purchase over the weekend by way of grocery shopping. I made my list for the farmer’s market yesterday (their newsletter comes out on Thursday mornings). The list includes sweet potatoes, eggplant, snap beans, baby kale, cucumbers, shelled red beans, and quail eggs. I can tell you now that I’m already talking myself out of the kale, beans, and eggs. Those would be the things on the list I either haven’t tried before or don’t have much experience with. And so goes my grocery shopping every week. I put things on the list, then I take them off for fear of messing it all up.
We’ll see what the weekend brings. As for now, I’ll just say, “Be the bento!” and wish everyone a great weekend.

Mish Mash? What mish mash? It’s gorgeous! I’d definitely eat that. I think you’re being too hard on yourself silly woman!
No, I’d definitely it it too. In fact, I did. And enjoyed every minute of it.
What I wonder is how people get things like peas and such so nicely segmented in their bento. My silicone cupcake cups hold too much. But the mini ones are too short and hold too little.
I’m apparently the Goldilocks of silicone cups.
Jes’ do it…
I meant to tell you yesterday that crepes aren’t usually good for later-eating… (see me no words today) they are meant to be eaten right away but I didn’t want to scare you off. texture suffers or something but I don’t eat crepes so my knowledge is limited. I think Alton did a crepes episode though.
Kale – do it and make my magic soup with quinoa!
beans – I don’t know
eggs – you know my experience already
PS Envious and proud/pleased for you that you had a bento all week!
Well, as I’ve just told you (like just now at 8:37 p.m. my time), the Farmer’s Market is now out. Boo.
So, now must rethink of what I’m going to do this weekend. Oh, and thanks about the whole bentos this week. I’m proud too.
